What a crazy week in the NFL. This statement seems to be true every weekend during the season. However, for some reason, this season seems to be more confusing than the local corn maze. If you were to tell me that the Bronco’s would be 6-0 after the summer they had, I would never have believed you. At the same token, if you told me that the Titans would go 0-6, I would have called the looney bin and made sure you had the best room in the place. This is the world of the NFL. A league that isdesigned for every team to be .500 is anything but this year. There are currently four undefeated teams right now. The Giants could have stayed on thelist if they didn’t play undefeated New Orleans. Obviously in that game, something had to give. The Saints, Colts, Broncos, and Vikings are all prefect to this point. Out of these teams, Denver and Minnesota are the biggest surprises.
The Denver Broncos had the craziest off season in recent memory. A brand new head coach comes intaking the place of one of the greatest of all time. The team then trades away its franchise quarterback and has to deal with unrest from its top receiver. These things usually do not lend themselves to perfection. Minnesota added Percy Harvin and Brett Favre in the off season. These two additions made it obvious that the Vikings would get better. Not perfect. Brett Favre has never been on a 6-0 team. There is a first for everything. With Jared Allen and crew playing their minds out on defense and the best running back in the world on offense, the Vikings are running on all cylinders. The question now is….Who will be the first to lose a game??
On the flip side of this we have teams at the bottom of the barrel. The Rams and the Titans are still searching for their first win. The Rams had a chance against the Redskins. However, a team that relies on Kyle Boller as a backup deserves to not win a game. The Titans situation is just perplexing. There is no reason whatsoever to not have won a game. This was a playoff team last year. They have some chances coming up with Jacksonville, Buffalo, Houston, St. Louis, and Seattle still on the schedule. I believe Vince Young will be the starter for the rest of season. We will see how that one plays out.
There have been some crazy games this year as well. In Week 1 the Steelers and the Titans go to OTand Seattle blanks St. Louis. Week 2 Baltimore and NY Giants pull off wins. Week 3 was the first game Detroit won in 20 games. The Rams get shutout for the second time in Week4 along with Baltimoregetting screwed by the League. Week 5 wasanother Washington loss to a winless team and Denver and Dallasneeding OT to win games. Week 6 justmight be the icing on the cake thus far. Oakland beats Philly, Baltimoreloses on a last second field goal, Washingtonloses to another crappy team, and Buffalowins in OT. What will Week 7 bring??
