Bayhawks vs Machine In Game Blog

Annapolis, MD-- The HerbFM staff arrived at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in preparation for tonight's game.  The 'Hawks must revenge the loss they suffered last week against this very same Chicago team.  The 'Hawks came out looking strong in the first half, but great play from the Machine defense handed them an 11-18 loss.  Tonight's game will be the third meeting between the two with the series tied at one.

The game tonight has plenty of playoff implications.  The loser of tonight's game will automatically be eliminated from the playoff picture.  However, a Long Island win over Denver tonight will send both teams packing.

Coach John Lamon took some time to speak to the HerbFM crew before the game.  He told us that the key for the game for the Bayhawks is to push the Machine offense toward the middle of the field to take advantage of help from the long poles.  On the offensive end of things, he told us that they to make more touches on each possession

They play is starting to get sloppy.  Chicago does not want to get behind early.  We are also trying to get info from Long Island to keep the playoff picture clear.  The 'Hawks are playing with a lot of energy.  Garritty showing a lot of emotion.

The Hawks are eating up the time of possession, however, they are not converting.  Behind the back shot saved by Garritty.  Both Gladings brothers are playing well.  Update from LI: Lizards up 5-4.

Big hit by P.T. Ricci, turnover.  Now we have two flags on the field.  Washington has possession.

3:14 - WASH - #14 Buggs Combs unassisted.  Sick stick work.  Buggs slammed that one in. GOAL

Both flags were on Kevin Leveille from CHI.  He will be serving a 5:00 unreleasable followed by a 2:00 misconduct.

8:52 - CHI - #16 Terry Kimnener assisted by #91 Mike Leveille GOAL 11 -9 WASH

7:16 i CHI - #19 Kevin Leveille unassisted GOAL 11 - 10 WASH

Here is typical Hawks lacrosse.  Blowing a first half lead.  Seeing some good play from a few players.  The defense is starting to look tired.

5:51 - WASH #12 Ben Hunt assisted by #3 Matt Abbott Man Down GOAL 12 - 10 WASH

Update from LI:  11-7 Denver 2:00 remain in 3rd.

:07 - WASH - #57 Peet Poillon unassisted GOAL.  13 - 10 WASH.

Kyle Dixon's job may be in jeopardy with the way Poillon is playing.  Peet is playing in his first game for the Hawks and now has 4 goals.

END OF 3RD

The rookies are shining tonight as Poillon and Hunt each have 4 goals.

14:33 - WASH - #14 Buggs Combs assited by #39 Kevin Huntley GOAL 14 - 10 WASH

Combs with a hat trick and two assists.  Nice night for the veteran.

12:45 - CHI - #91 Mike Leveille assisted by #33 Bill McGlone GOAL 14 - 11 WASH

McGlone having a huge game.  He has scored only 5 goals so far this year, tonight he has 3.

10:24 - WASH - #25 Billy Glading unassisted GOAL 15 - 11 WASH

9:20 - CHI - #16 Terry Kimener assisted by #19 Kevin Leveille GOAL 15 - 12 WASH

CHI #9 Mike Gabel Goalie - EJECTED for illegal equipment.
CHI Coach EJECTED for goalie illegal equipment
WASH #5 Alex Smith 3:00 illegal stick

So things seem to be getting pretty exciting here.  Just to make things clear; the coach is responsible for the equipment the players use.  This means that the coach also gets ejected.  The info we have obtained is that the goalie was using a STX stick and had an illegal chest protector.  In the MLL you can only use Brine or Warrior equipment.

6:43 - CHI - #19 Kevin Leveille assisted by #91 Mike Leveille GOAL 15 - 13 WASH.  Now that is brotherly love.

Update from LI: Denver up 12 - 9 with 3 mins left.

6:06 - CHI - #19 Kevin Leveille assisted by #91 Mike Leveille Behind the back GOAL 15:14 WASH

Hitting is starting to pick up. This game is too close for comfort.  The Hawks are going to need to stay aggressive if they are going to win this game.

Just got word from the staff - tonight's attendance is 5,326.  Pretty good showing.  The Orioles and the Nationals would be jealous.

2:42 - WASH - #12 Ben Hunt assisted by #24 Jed Prossner GOAL 16 - 14 WASH

Hunt is having a great game.  I think it was the pep talk he got from the HerbFM staff before the game.

Update from LI: Denver wins 13 - 9.  This score is unofficial at the moment, but is should hold up.  This means the loser of this game is eliminated from playoff contention.

1:19 - CHI - #33 Bill McGlone unassisted GOAL 16 - 15 WASH

Ok folks real nail biter here.  Where in the world did Bill McGlone come from?!?!?!
